Gesthimani Spikes has been an elementary teacher for 19 years. She began her teaching career in 1989. She taught English as a Second Language in Athens, Greece. She got married and moved to the United States where after a work break for family and children of her own, she taught Kindergarten and first grade at a private school. In 2003 she earned her Texas teaching certification and began teaching at Texas public schools. Over the years, she taught 4th grade, Kindergarten, 1st grade and ELL all across elementary grades. In her first grade classroom, she had the joy to mentor and train the awesome intern teachers from Baylor University. She moved to North Carolina in 2017 and she has taught first grade for Cumberland County Schools for the past two years. She is very excited to begin her first year with The Capitol Encore Academy teaching her favorite group; first graders!
