A K-8 public charter school with an arts integration approach to education.
The Capitol Encore Academy will develop artists who inspire others with principles of design and artful thinking through the integration of academic excellence, virtuous character and disciplined artistry.
Attention! Capitol Encore in the news!
Congratulations to our very own, Courtney Samuelson on being named the NC Charter School Teacher of the Year. Check out the video of her honor:
INSPIRED: During the last week of school, our 5th grade- 7th grade students participated in The Capitol Encore Academy's own version of Shark Tank. This idea was generated at the 2nd Annual Making Innovation a Priority in NC Schools: Exploring Innovative Practices held at UNCW's UNCW Watson College of Education. The students modeled their planning time after the Design Thinking Model used at the conference and then pitched their ideas to four TCEA Staff Sharks. Most teams integrated the arts into their presentations!!! Students pictured here are the winners and they will come in to school, this summer, to build their plans for improvement with the TCEA Admin Team and then put these plans in place this coming Fall to improve the middle school experience at TCEA. The rising 6th graders' idea tackled cleanliness in our school and everyone being a part of the solution. The rising 7th graders' idea will create a student council where student voice is present and appreciated. The rising 8th graders' idea is focused on creating a safe and supportive learning environment that has logical consequences for inappropriate behavior while still holding students accountable.
This was a wonderful experience for our students and staff members and we're excited to see what the 2019-2020 school year holds. #TCEAarts #Innovate2EducateNC Thanks A+ Schools - North Carolina for supporting our teachers because the students learned this presentation of learning from modeling your professional development❤️. ...
